If you answered yes, you may be eligible to apply for the Walsall Business Start Up Grant. 

Any start up business that has not been trading for more than 12 months* (*usual criteria apply)

You can apply for a grant of between £500 and up to a maximum of £1500 based on costs you are planning to spend on your business, which you can prove through invoices etc

 

 

Any purchases made directly on the business once your grant has been approved:

 

1.              Eligible items may include:

(a)            capital items (such as tooling or machinery)

(b)            Consultancy fees

(c)            Training costs

(d)            Marketing costs

 

2.              Ineligible costs may include:

(a)            Value Added Tax;

(b)            Stock

(c)            Insurance

(d)            Rent

(e)            any costs not detailed in the application without prior written approval from the Project Team

 All decisions on financial assistance and amounts offered are at the sole discretion of the panel set up by Walsall Council and Partnership to consider applications.

If you feel you fit the eligibility criteria and would like to apply for the Business Start Up Grant please complete all three required documents (the Business Start Up Grant application form, business plan and cash flow chart) and return using one of the following methods.

A formal application will be required for the grants programmes. All applications will follow a common appraisal and project management process. The formal application will be assessed with regard to its business development potential, employment growth and sustainability. Specifically the project team will assess the market/business need, and impact e.g. sales and jobs.

 

The Walsall Business Start Up Grant is part of the Solutions for Business portfolio, through the Walsall Strategic Partnership. Solutions for Business (SfB) is a suite of publicly funded business support products and services designed to help businesses start, grow and succeed.

 

Once your three application documents have been submitted it will go through an initial assessment by the project team and you will be informed by email or telephone if you have been successful, unsuccessful or  needs further development/ additional information.  If you need more help we can provide you with additional support from our partners in the Walsall area. If the claim value is for under £1000 we can provide a quicker localised decision on the funding application.  If the grant claim is for over £1000 the application will go to a panel for decision.  You will be informed of the decision in writing.  Payment of the claim will be on submission of receipts or approved evidence of spend.
