From April 2009 grant assistance is available throughout Walsall towards the cost of security measures for commercial and Industrial premises.
- Security shutters, grilles and fencing
- Close circuit TV and lighting
- Installing alarm systems
- Access control
Applicants are required to have a mandatory security audit, conducted free of
charge.
Eligibility Criteria
Grants are only available to that business that fit the definition of Small to
Medium Sized Enterprises (SME). Applicants will need to complete an SME declaration
to confirm their status and the declaration forms part of the application form.
If you:
- Employ fewer than 250 full time equivalent people and
- Have less than £33,000,000 annual turnover and/or
- Less than £28,000,000 annual balance sheet total and are
- Less than 25% owned or controlled by a non-SME or combination of non- SMEs
Then you should satisfy the SME definition.
Your business must be located in the Walsall Borough.

for this grant)
The Grant
- All applicants must sign a Fire Safety Confirmation
- Assistance will only be available to those businesses that meet the definition of a Small to Medium Size Enterprise (as defined in the declaration form attached).
- SME’s can apply individually or as a collective.
- Privately owned retail businesses are eligible, however corporately owned retailers are not.
- The grant will be administered on a match funding basis with 60% being financed from the business and 40% from the grant fund.
- An amount between of £500- £2000 will be available to each individual business.
- A amount between of £2500- £15000 will be available to a collective of 5 or more businesses
- All decisions on financial assistance and amounts offered are at the sole discretion of the panel set up by Walsall Council to consider applications
