Business Rates is a local business tax payable in respect of all occupied and
some unoccupied 'non-domestic' properties. Rates are paid to Walsall Council who
acts as a Billing Authority on behalf of the Government. The business rates income
is then paid into a government central pool, where it is re-distributed to councils
according to population size.
